Just a 90-minute drive away, Khorfakkan offers a mix of natural beauty, cultural heritage, and a laid-back atmosphere that's perfect for a day trip. Beachfront Bliss The moment you arrive, you're greeted by the stunning coastline that Khorfakkan is famous for. The beach here is one of the most serene spots I've encountered in the UAE, with clear turquoise waters gently lapping against the soft, golden sands. Spending a few hours on the beach, whether you're swimming, lounging, or just strolling along the shore, is incredibly relaxing. The water is inviting, and there's something therapeutic about the quiet, almost untouched quality of the beach. For those who enjoy being on the water, there's also the option to snorkel or dive. The trail is manageable for most, and the reward at the end is a beautiful waterfall that feels like a hidden gem. The cool spray of the water is refreshing after the hike, and the views along the way are just as rewarding. Stepping Back in Time Khorfakkan also offers a deep dive into the UAE’s history. Visiting the Al Hisn Fort was like stepping back in time. The fort is not just a historical building; it’s a gateway to understanding the region's past. The small museum inside provides context on the fort’s role in the town’s history and its strategic importance over the centuries. Walking through its rooms, you get a sense of how life might have been in Khorfakkan long before it became the peaceful retreat it is today. Not far from the fort is the Al Bidya Mosque, the oldest in the UAE. The mosque's simple design belies its historical significance. It’s humbling to stand in a place that has been a site of worship for centuries. The surrounding area, with its ancient watchtowers, adds to the sense of history, making this a culturally rich stop on your visit.
